San Marino Dog Park Rejected by City Council

Last night, San Marino City Council voted to reject the proposed San Marino dog park in Lacy Park. The vote was 3 to 1. This proposal generated a lot of discussion and the Crowell Library’s Barth Community Meeting Room was packed with residents – no empty seats in sight.

Many spoke for and against the park, but ultimately there was concern about the effects of the park on nearby home-owners, associated costs and the fact that the San Marino dog park would need to be disassembled for one month each year to accommodate the annual San Marino Fishing Derby and Girl Scout Acitivities.

I have to say though that Derek Barker did an outstanding job since 4th of July presenting his concept of the dog park to the San Marino recreation committee, City Council AND the community.

Here’s Derek presenting last night:

Great job Derek and what a wonderful initiative!
